The Beaches and Watersports

The North Cornish coast is a popular surfing location and opportunities stretch around the coastline including Newquay’s Fistral beach (right) and Watergate Bay.
If you fancy learning to surf or windsurf there are some excellent schools available catering for all ages and abilities. Some beaches, particularly the large ones like Newquay, have lifeguards on duty.

If you prefer a less hectic time on the beach some of the Cornish beaches remain surprisingly quiet and tranquil considering their beautiful sands and views.

Walking

There are some great walking opportunities in Cornwall. Not only are there some beautiful coastal walks, but the Cornish countryside is truly spectacular. The network of small villages means you are never far from a shop or pub and the ancient industrial past of the area means something unusual is always around the corner.

Exciting Days out

North Cornwall is packed with exciting places to visit, for children and adults, all within easy reach of our holiday lodges including:

Dairyland Farm World, Lappa Valley Steam Railway, Newquay Zoo, National Seal Sanctuary, Poldark Mine, National Maritime Museum Cornwall, Bodmin and Wenford Railway, Goonhilly Satellite Station, Tintagel Castle.

Theme parks including: American Adventure, Dobwalls and Flambards.

Or how about a trip to Land’s End where the brave can take a helicopter ride over to the Scilly Isles!

Relaxing Days Out

If you like a slower pace to your holidays you will not be disappointed either.

There are numerous National Trust locations with delightful gardens in easy reach of the holiday lodges. The Cornish coast has many picturesque fishing harbours like Charlestown, Mevagissey, or Goran Haven or you could take a day out to the scenic St Michael’s Mount.

Aspen and Enderley Lodges are only 10 miles from the Eden Project. The Lost Gardens of Heligan are within easy reach and Cornwall is home to the beautiful Trevarno Gardens.

Food

Of course, a visit to Cornwall wouldn't be complete without a pastie for lunch and a cream tea in the afternoon but there is much more to Cornish food. Fresh fish is available daily and the summer sunshine allows the local fruit and veg to flourish.

If you prefer your food prepared for you then you are also spoilt for choice. Padstow is of course the home of Rick Stein and his restaurants are really worth a visit, even if it is just for Fish and Chips. Jamie Oliver has opened his 15th new restaurant in nearby Watergate Bay.

As well as famous chefs the area boasts some excellent restaurants and pubs to cater for all tastes and budgets.

Golf

No matter how seriously you take your golf there are opportunities for you to pick up a club. Cornwall has plenty of Mini-Golf and Pitch and Putt courses, and there are some very special costal courses with unrivalled views while you work your way to the 19th Hole.

Two local courses are:
Trevose Golf & Country Club, Constantine Bay, Padstow
St Enodoc Golf Club, Rock, Wadebridge

Cycling

Cycles can be hired in the town of Wadebridge where you can collect trail maps from their offices. Or bring your own cycles and make your own routes through the Cornish countryside.

Fishing

Cornwall is a paradise for fishermen and women, at nearly every port chartered boats will take visiting anglers to the best sites around the coast. Due to the effects of the Gulf Stream there is a wide variety of fish for the catching. There is also a wealth of coarse and fly fishing in many of the lakes and reservoirs.
